Round 2 v Dunnstown wrap up

In the last round our seniors came out against Dunnstown looking to get another win on the board. Unfortunately the guys were somewhat sluggish in the first quarter and found themselves 3 goals down very quickly before they steadied to limit the damage caused. The second quarter saw the team work their way back into the game playing tough accountable footy to get back within a goal by half time. In the 3rd quarter the boys dominated, playing an exceptional brand of footy running the ball in numbers from the defence to the forward line then tackled and harassed their opponents endeavouring to turn the ball over at any opportunity. Dan Wehrung showed great leadership with a fine game in the midfield. Nathan Skewes dominated racking up quality possessions across half back with Kal Young and Adrian Chew controlling the stoppages booting 6 unanswered goals for the quarter. The last quarter saw Dunnstown rally but the boys were determined to get the points. Will Young was a beacon up front with 7 goals and the back line worked as one to ensure the Dunnstown forwards were given no space to work in. A 28 point victory is a pleasing result well done to Kal and the boys.

In the Reserves match the guys started well but fell away over the final 3 quarters. Brad Fleming continued his great form getting plenty of support from James Dimond, Dan Eastwell and Simon Dwyer.

The U18s played some quality football against undermanned but determined opposition, the boys pulled away for a strong win. A big thankyou to the boys that chipped in to help out the opposition. Patrick Parr was dominant getting some great support from Jake Relouw, Justin Kennedy and Dan Prendergast.

The U15s put in a dominant performance taking the match away from their opponents the boys moved the ball exceptionally well sharing the leather amongst the entire team – Frazer Hay had a day out with Alex O’Brien, Jed Cergneeg and Lockie Opie all making valuable contributions. The U12s continue to impress with all players working extremely hard Harry Ingram, Will Mereki-Wallace, Alex Gervasoni and Trav Baxter led the way in a good all round team performance.

Over on the netball court our A Grade team put in a competitive performance against strong opposition. The girls made the match a contest to the final whistle – Rose Russell and Steph Blythe stood out. Our B Grade girls also performed well and kept coming back at the opposition all game – Shannon Johnstone and Maddie Durie were the better players The C Grade team also put together a tireless effort in what was a tough assignment – Erin Shortal and Felicity Donovan played well.

The U17s worked hard but were unable to get the points – Celie Hay and Maggie Prendergast played great games. Our U15s maintained their poise in a competitive game to hold on to their lead through out the match – Maggie Russell and Eliza Martino played well in a good team effort. The U13s played a top game with all the players contributing in an even team performance. Our U13B netballers also played a fine game well done girls.
